Things to see and do while on the Gold Coast

Whether your next Gold Coast holiday was a last minute decision or you have months to plan in advance, it’s always a good idea to have a general game plan of what you’re going to do or where you’re going to go. This is beneficial so that you aren’t exactly going in blind. The rest will likely fall in to place once you arrive and get your bearings.

The Gold Coast, Surfers Paradise in particular, is host to some great cafes and shops that interstate, intrastate and overseas visitors alike will find quirky and exciting. Plus who doesn’t like knowing in advance some of the tasty spots to grab a bite or shopping destinations that won’t cease to amaze even the most avid shopping lover.

Some great spots to eat in Surfers Paradise (click the name to go to the website and check out their menus!) –

Brooklyn Depot

Brooklyn Depot

Inspired by Old Brooklyn, their Chef prepared menu of Handcrafted Burgers, Hot Dogs, Salads and Desserts will get your tastebuds ticking, open now in the heart of Surfers Paradise in the The 4217. No one can go past their delicious BBQ Pork Ribs, Chicken Wings and Chips while those who love their sweets, how about Oreo filled Doughnut Balls, Caramel Pecan Brownies and more? Try their Thick Handspun Milkshakes or their fully stocked bar for the perfect afternoon hangout or Sunday session.

Out personal favorite burger is Flip the bird with pulled chicken.
Open 7 Days 11am until late.

Paradox Coffee Roasters

Just next door to Brooklyn Depot is a cool and trendy cafe called Paradox. With brick walls, high ceilings, succulents and flowers on display this is a great spot to grab a bite to eat in the morning or a coffee plus take a photograph along the way if you fancy that kind of thing.

A particular favorite drink is the iced latte with maple syrup.

Open 7 days 7 am until 3 pm

Cocoon Lounge Bar and Dining

TWE-Cocoon-021

Cocoon recently opened up to the public in the heart of Surfers Paradise. It is an ultra chic go to destination for locals to hang out for some food and drinks and is not a place to miss when visiting. It is nestled in the perfect location looking across the Nerang River and making for a spectaular view at night of the twinkling lights of Surfers Paradise and Chevron Island.

Cocoon’s point of difference are –

“Rather than offering entrée and mains, Cocoon serves dishes that are designed for sharing among friends and are brought to the table steadily and continuously throughout the meal”

The day beds along the waterfront are a favorite and they also offer a day bed menu consisting of –
Mixed platters of sea food, cold meats, cheeses, pickled vegetables focaccia and dips. If this isn’t enough you can treat yourself to Cocoon waffles with butterscotch sauce, strawberries and vanilla ice cream.

With a resident DJ playing cool music in the background, great menus to choose from and drinks, this is a destination not to miss this Summer.

Open Wednesday to Sunday 12pm until late

Now that you’ve had enough suggestions for places to eat, a few beaches you won’t want to miss out on visiting are –

Duranbah (Dbah)
Even if you aren’t a keen surfer Dbah is a great place to go to people watch, check out the waves and even jump in yourself.

Point Danger (Coolangatta)
A great spot for checking out whales when they’re in season and watching the surfers catch some waves. BBQ facilities and picnic tables on site.

Snapper Rocks (Coolangatta)
Dependent on the tide, Snapper Rocks can offer a secluded section where you can swim without waves if that isn’t your thing. You will also discover funny little fish and crabs as marine life get caught in the rock pools. Very fun for kids!

Surfers Paradise Beach
Last but not least, just under your nose is the famous Surfers Paradise Beach. You simply must enjoy this beach during your stay. With beach stretching north and south as far as the eye can see, you can’t go wrong. All of our apartments on offer are walking distance from the patrolled Surfers Paradise Beach.

All of these spots are must sees on your Gold Coast holiday. If you haven’t sorted your accommodation yet, we would be pleased to be your hosts on your next getaway. You can book direct through our website or contact our office on –
