The Gold Coast continues to receive thousands of international visitors coming from all points of the globe. Based on the report released by Travel Queensland, the Gold Coast welcomed a total of 792,000 international visitors in the year ending December 2013; a 6.8% jump compared to data gathered in 2012. Of this number, 186,000 visitors came from China, which represent an impressive 18.9% increase compared to the previous year. This is partly because China recently launched direct Beijing to Queensland flight and because Chinese finds Australia as a safe travel destination when compared to other Asian countries.
In addition to the strong results from China, travel from UK and New Zealand to Queensland also improved significantly posting a 16.8% and 4.5% increase respectively. Visitors from Singapore also increased by 11% due to the introduction of direct flights to the Gold Coast from Scoot airlines.
